It’s been two years since we have had an official 1″ at the Asheville Airport. Are we going to end that snowless spell this week, yet this year? Some of our biggest snows come in March. What do you think?

Is Now the Time to Buy? Sell?
As a Realtor I am seeing more Showings on my Listings and I am getting more Buyers calling in. The range that all this acitivity is in is pretty much limited to under $300,000 but it is a real improvement. Is this the right time for you? It depends on your needs. Prices have not started to recover yet but there is less inventory available and more Buyers. Unless you are willing to wait maybe 5 years for appreciation in the price, it might be a good time to sell. If you are buying again, your lower price in selling will be matched by a lower price in buying. If you are buying under $300,000 and have been waiting for the prices to bottom out – this may be the time. No one knows for sure, but the extra activity should keep prices from dropping in spite of the Foreclosures and Short Sales. Spring is here. Will there be bears this year?
I have lived in Asheville for nearly 48 years. It wasn’t until 3 or 4 years ago that I began to see bears in my yard, mostly at night when they destroyed my bird feeders. Last year I even saw them at dusk as we raced to see who would get the bird seed first! I decided a little birdseed wasn’t worth much. Bears have been seen in downtown Asheville, around Beaver Lake and many other places you wouldn’t expect. They can appear almost anywhere. It is important to know how to deal with the bears. There are no grizzlies in this area and the black bear is actually quite shy. However they do get bolder as they get used to people. Here are some tips for dealing with the bears.
A friend of mine looked out her front door one afternoon and saw this family strolling by, in the middle of a city neighborhood.

Time to start thinking about Bele Chere 2012
July 27 to 29 2012 will be Asheville’s biggest street festival. Click the link to see some of last years pictures. Right now they are still looking for musical acts and the art work for the poster has not yet been selected. Check out the link above if you are interested in participating. There’s food for everyone of every kind. You can buy Treasures or Trash. So food vendors and miscellaneous venders still need to sign up. Watch this blog for further information when it is announced. And plan to come to Asheville for Bele Chere 2012. There’s fun for grownups and kids too, but please don’t bring your animals.
